The School of Communication Sciences, Arts and Information Technologies of Lusófona University (ECATI) provides a five year curriculum in Informatics and Information Technology, at the end of which the candidates obtain a M.Sc. Degree in Computer Engineering.
This curriculum is divided in two cycles, each one providing a full recognized degree: B.Sc. after 3 years and M.Sc. after 2 more years.
Like in many other Engineering Schools, the first cycle provides the core competencies that form the body of knowledge of Computer Engineering, while the second cycle provides a broader choice of options in advanced topics, with the goal of training professionals and researchers to assume leadership positions in advanced engineering projects, to integrate teams in technological challenging activities and to promote innovative and socially valid research activities.
In 2008, this cycle was accredited with IEEE and a submission for the EUR-ACE accreditation for the complete curriculum in Computer Engineering is currently underway.
