Abstract: This work provides a review of Robotic Process Automation and Intelligent Process Automation correlated with Business Continuity, to identify the state of awareness of Robotic Process Automation or Intelligent Process Automation within the Business Continuity Management Life cycle.

Currently, Robotic process automation and Intelligent Process Automation have gained a place in the automation of business processes, using blocks of software (bots). These agents interact with systems through interfaces, substituting human intervention with the objective of giving efficiency gains, reducing costs, and mitigating risks by ensuring and enforcing compliance measures. However, there are areas that are unclear for now, such as the incorporation of this new reality under the lifecycle of business continuity that needs to be evaluated. This work provides a review of Robotic Process Automation and Intelligent Process Automation correlated with Business Continuity, to identify the state of awareness of Robotic Process Automation or Intelligent Process Automation within the Business Continuity Management Life cycle. The discussion overview of the main research areas for investigation points to areas for future research for practitioners and researchers that come from numerous sources. These backgrounds reveal interest in the topics studied until now revealing an opportunity for research work.

Orador: José Manuel Catarino Barreiros Cascais Brás. Licenciado em Informática de Gestão, Mestre em Engenharia Informática e Sistemas de Informação pela Universidade Lusófona e doutorando de 3º ano em Ciência e Tecnologias da informação. A sua proposta de trabalho de projeto de doutoramento com o tema “”An overview of the impact of Robotic Process Automation in Business Continuity ” foi aceite no ISCTE em Ciências da Informação e Tecnologia, o qual iniciou em 2020/2021. Atualmente é Professor Assistente na Universidade Lusófona, no Instituto Politécnico da Lusofonia (IPLuso), no ISCTE e adicionalmente desempenha funções como Director Consulting Expert na CGI Portugal na área de Financial Services onde tem a responsabilidade de desenvolver nova oferta e gerir equipas. É atualmente Investigador no COPELABS da universidade Lusófona e no ISTAR-IUL – Centro de Investigação em Ciências da Informação, Tecnologias e Arquitetura na área de Sistemas de Informação do ISCTE.
